Amber Motif

Design consultancy

Clear design for complicated things.

Amber Motif is a design consultancy. We design digital products, visual identities, design systems and services, and we work alongside the people who will look after them once the project ends.

Services

What we design

Five kinds of work, often combined in one project. Each ends with files and documentation your team can keep using.

  1. Product & UX design

We map how people move through your product, find where they get stuck, and design the flows and screens that fix it. Work moves from sketches to tested prototypes to annotated files your engineers can build from.

Typical outputs: journey maps, user flows, interactive prototypes, production-ready screens.

  2. Visual identity

A logo, typefaces, colour, layout rules and a tone of voice that belong together. We write guidelines short enough that people read them, so the brand holds up on a slide, a website and a printed label.

Typical outputs: identity system, brand guidelines, templates for everyday documents.

  3. Design systems

Shared components, design tokens and documentation that let designers and engineers build consistent interfaces without starting from scratch. We can start a system with you or audit and tidy the one you already have.

Typical outputs: component library, tokens, usage guidance, contribution process.

  4. Service design

Some problems sit between teams rather than on a screen. We map the whole service, from what customers see to the work behind it, and redesign the handoffs, rules and touchpoints that shape their experience.

Typical outputs: service blueprints, research findings, a prioritised list of changes.

  5. Research & testing

Interviews, usability tests and a careful read of what you already know, planned around a decision you need to make. Findings come in plain language with a recommendation attached.

Typical outputs: research plan, session notes, findings and recommendations.

Process

How an engagement works

Projects differ in size, but the shape stays the same. At every point you know what we are doing, why, and what you will have at the end.

  1. Conversation

Email us a few lines about the problem. We reply with questions and suggest a call to talk it through. No brief or preparation needed.

  2. Written proposal

We write up what we heard: the problem, the scope, what we will deliver, how we will work together and a timeline. You can change it before anything starts.

  3. Working rounds

We work in short rounds, each ending in a review with you. You see work in progress early, and decisions are written down so nobody has to remember a meeting.

  4. Handover

Source files, documentation and a walkthrough for the people who will carry the work on. Questions after handover are welcome.

Tell us what you’re working on.

A few lines is enough: what the project is, who it is for, and when you would like to start.

If we are not the right fit for the work, we will tell you.
